Fiftieth Flashback Friday. A family affair. Steve Brooks was in the class of 95, taking electronics. He was from Watkins High school. At JVS he met his future wife, Charity (from Northridge). Charity was also a 95 grad, taking graphic design. Steve’s brother was in the class of 89 in electricity. Steve writes of his experience at JVS (C-TEC), “I was where I wanted to be, doing what I wanted to be doing. Looking back, the friends I made for life, the training I received from the instructors (both former Navy electronics instructors) helped me work for HP for 15 years, and currently for an Israeli laser company. The staff were wonderful, Mr. Cissler was always as kind as he could be to us all. I’m a proud proponent of vocational education, and when meeting with executives and CEOs I push the absolute value of starting trades and specialized education as early as prospective future employees seek instruction. No longer is college the “only” way. JVS was the right place, right time for me! Thank you!” We love getting notes like this from alumni. Thank you, Steve. All the best to you and your family!

Congressman Troy Balderson was on campus recently to record an episode of his podcast “Troy Talks” with our superintendent, Dr. Malainy. They talked about all things career tech, workforce, personal influences, and even about their moms. We appreciate Troy’s efforts to support C-TC and career tech education.
