Check out this awesome story about Marleigh Mathis, a senior in our Medical Assisting program from Johnstown.
Marleigh works at Black Diamond in Johnstown and recently found herself in a situation where the skills she learned in her program and her quick thinking made a difference. A customer began choking on her food. Marleigh immediately stepped in and used the training and knowledge she gained at C-TEC to perform the Heimlich maneuver, successfully dislodging the food.
The customer was extremely grateful to Marleigh for her quick response.
Marleigh said, "If it was not for what I learned in Medical Assisting, I would not have known what to do. Instead, when I realized what was happening, I went into 'game mode.'"
We are very proud of Marleigh for remaining calm, putting her training into action, and helping someone in need!
