Lakewood student Gabrielle Jones recently won the incredibly rare NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Award for women who are outstanding in the field of computer science.
The NCWIT is an organization that honors the aspirations, abilities, and technical accomplishments of women. Gabrielle is an exceptional student in the C-TEC of Licking County IT program at Lakewood having taken both Dual Enrollment Programming and AP Computer Science Principles. She grew up with technology and has many experiences with computer hardware, and was a member of the very first Girls Who Code program at Lakewood Middle School.
She is an integral part of the Lakewood High School tech team responsible for maintaining the school's technology assets, and a member of Lakewood Drama department, the Lancer Band, the Cross Country team, and Lakewood Acapella. She also volunteers with the Lakewood fifth grade classes each day, and aspires to be a music educator in the future.
