Additional Student Services
The Counseling department offers the following services to assist our students in the development of their academic, personal, social, and career potential, while inspiring them to become resilient, responsible citizens.
Personal Social Development
The C-TEC Counseling department understands that students have various needs throughout high school, including social and emotional needs. We attempt to meet those needs through one-on-one grief counseling, group counseling, and classroom guidance. We will refer students to outside counselors or agencies when necessary.
Classroom Guidance
The C-TEC counselors are primarily in the classroom for scheduling, career or college related activities, and to perform credit checks on an individual basis.
College Planning/Testing
The C-TEC counselors and support staff work with students at all levels to provide developmental, comprehensive services pertaining to postsecondary plans through individual, small-group and classroom guidance instruction. In our guidance surrounding the postsecondary process, we work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and the community to encourage students to pursue education beyond high school. Students will engage in classroom activities throughout their years which will focus on investigating individual strengths, pursuing interests, and seeking to discover an appropriate career path.
The SAT and ACT are both standardized tests that factor into most admissions decisions and also can be used to award scholarships and grants. C-TEC counselors are available to assist students in registering for the ACT/SAT and provide resources for preparing for the tests.
ASVAB
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Test Battery (ASVAB) will be offered to all C-TEC students. It is an excellent career exploration tool. By taking the ASVAB, there is no obligation in any way for a student to join the Armed Services. It is understood, however, that the students’ scores will be made available to all branches of the Armed Services.
