Newark, OH—C-TEC Adult Education will hold a pre-assessment on Saturday, February 18, 2012 for those interested in the school's Power Lineman Training program.
"Our nation continues to grow and so does our need for electricity. This is necessary to maintain our standard of living and power line technicians are the men and women who maintain these complex electrical systems," said Don Tackett, C-TEC Lineman instructor and retired AEP Distribution Supervisor.
Approximately one-half of the nation's electrical line workers are expected to retire within the next few years making the job market prime for new workers trained in the field. Starting pay for this industry averages $36,000 annually and within five years pay can increase up to $65,000 annually. After a decade of work in the industry, workers can average up to $100,000 annually.
Students in C-TEC's Power Lineman program receive the training necessary to climb poles, assemble materials, tools, and equipment, perform bucket truck and pole top rescue, install cross arms, and operate a bucket and digger truck. Students will also learn basic electricity and train for a Class A CDL.
Financial aid and scholarship assistance is available for this program. Students interested in the February 18th pre-assessment should contact Peg Fawcett at 740-364-2262 or
