Joyce Kimbrell
State Farm Insurance
Joyce Kimbrell was a stay-at-home mom who had been out
of the work force for several years. She didn’t know what
employers expected of her or how to go about forging a fulfilling
career rather than just settling for the first job that came along.
Then she applied to the Preemployment Training Customer
Connection program offered by the Career and Technology Education
Centers of Licking County (C-TEC).
“
My kids had grown up, and I wanted a fulfilling job that
would give me something to talk about besides kids and housework,” the
Newark resident says. “It’s really awesome. I can’t
begin to describe how much it helped me. It just gave me confidence.
It also gave me a competitive edge over others because I was introduced
to other companies.”
One of those companies was State Farm Insurance, which
now employs Kimbrell as an underwriter service assistant.
“
I’ve encouraged a lot of people to take the classes,” Kimbrell
says. “I’ve also encouraged businesses to join the (Customer
Connection) consortium. It’s a great way for companies to get
qualified people who want to work.”
