American Heart Association meets Medical Assisting, STNA, Phlebotomy/ECG prerequisites. Full certification only, no refresher. Books available (but not required) for additional cost of $15. Minimum of 9 students; max enrollment 18. A $1.25 card fee will be collected during class for your card. Students must be in class promptly at 7:45 a.m.

State Tested Nurse Aide Training
In Partnership with COTC
Prepare for your state test through state directed classroom and clinical training. Royal blue uniform/scrubs required. Prerequisites: High School Diploma or G.E.D., WorkKeys pre-test $40 fee; negative two-step T.B. test within 30 days of the start of class (allow 14 days for the two-step T.B. process); basic healthcare provider CPR certification (copy of card required). Must submit documentation of BCI background check on first day of class. (Do not have it mailed to the school, allow 30 days.) 100% attendance required. All students must be able to lift 50 lbs. Pharmacy Technician – Open Enrollment
Prepare to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) through blended learning. Learn the fundamentals of working for a pharmacist in your local drug store or hospital pharmacy through directed online education. The curriculum includes medical terminology, medical review, aseptic techniques, pharmacy operations, legal aspects of drug dispensing, repackaging, dose calculations, inventory control and other duties. Computer experience necessary. Students must take the $40 pre-test in Workkey math, locating and reading prior to enrollment. Instructor: Sean McGinnis, CPhT. Classes will begin the first Monday of each month.

Medical Coding Specialist
Prepare for coding in a physician’s office. Learn the fundamentals
for ICD-9 and CPT, while preparing for the CPC certification. You will cover medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and reimbursement. Prerequisite: High school diploma or GED; WorkKeys pretesting/application $40; basic computer experience. Contact: Erna Holland at (740) 364-2282.

Medical Assistant
Be prepared for the national M.A. Registry through a combination of classroom and clinical experiences. You’ll learn healthcare administrative skills, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, safety, nutrition, body structure and function, clinical assisting and more. After successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to take the test for the RMA (Registered Medical Assisting) through the AMT (American Medical Technology). Prerequisites: 2-step TB test, Healthcare Provider CPR, Hepatitis B series, WorkKeys, typing with 35 wpm minimum, and computer skills. There may be a background check and drug screen requirement for externship. Black scrubs with white closed toe and heel tennis shoe or clinical shoe. ECG (Electrocardiogram) Training
Full-time program that includes 560 hours of classroom training and a 100 hour externship that will be scheduled following successful completion of classroom hours and proper documentation of all prerequisites.

Phlebotomist
The Phlebotomy Technician is an integral part of the laboratory team who collects blood specimens by venipuncture or a capillary stick; they also can assist in other patient specimen collection such as urine. The Phlebotomist may also be involved with data entry, specimen processing, capable of following directions and be detail oriented.
Curriculum will include: Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Fundamentals of Math, Law and Ethics, Patient Contact/Public Relations, Intro to Computers, Phlebotomy I, II and III.
ECG (Electrocardiogram)
Electrocardiogram instruction will provide you an overview of the cardiac vascular system. Focusing on the proper placement of electrocardiogram (ECG) leads, proper procedure and use of equipment to obtain an accurate 12-Lead ECG. An ECG traces electrical impulses transmitted by the heart by attaching electrodes to the patient’s chest, arms and legs. This will create an ECG print for interpretation by the physician. You will also learn to recognize basic cardiac arrhythmias which will enable you to recognize a good clear ECG as well as recognize a serious circumstance that may need immediate physician interpretation.
ECG Technicians must be reliable, have mechanical aptitude and be able to follow detailed instructions.
Curriculum will include: Cardiovascular Anatomy and Physiology, ECG I and II and the above curriculum included In Phlebotomy.
Prerequisites: WorkKey pre testing $40, American Heart Association CPR Healthcare Provider, Hepatitis B series, immunization records, 2-step TB test.
Black scrubs, white tennis shoe or clinical shoe (no clogs or open toe).
